Parts Specialist

Location: Surrey, British Columbia, Canada

Parts Specialist 

 Magnum Search Group has partnered with a leader in the Heavy Equipment specializing in the areas of Lifting, Municipal and Rail Solutions. Together we are in search of a Parts Specialist to join their teams in Surrey BC. Their presence is spreading, and communities throughout Western Canada are catching wind of their customized creations. 
 This position is responsible for assisting customers, both internal and external, in person and over the phone to provide merchandise, supplies, and information while focusing on the achievement of departmental and company-wide goals and objectives.

The Parts Specialist  Person is responsible for delivering outstanding customer service and parts knowledge. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge in heavy equipment parts including hydraulics and be able to use both computer-based and manual parts catalogs. They will interact with employees and customers both in person and on the phone ensuring superior customer service. The position provides merchandise, supplies, and information to all customers, both internal and external while contributing to the achievement of departmental and company goals and objectives. Secondary responsibilities include purchasing and maintaining inventory on all lines with relation to the Parts Department and demands of the customers and/or multiple shops.
Job Duties:
  • Provide counter/telephone sales and exceptional customer service to both external and internal customers
  • Work with Service and Install employees supplying correct parts/components
  • Negotiate pricing and purchase product inventory
  • Provide product inventory control as well as put away stock, data entry and cycle counting
  • Determine correct parts numbers and “pick” parts for orders received
  • Promote parts sales by suggesting related items
  • Arrange for delivery or shipment of parts as required
  • Help maintain orderly parts stock
  • Assist with regular parts inventories and the selection of parts for return under the parts obsolescence program
  • Recommend layout improvements to the Parts Manager and assist in the physical rearrangement of the layout of the Parts Department
  • Other duties as required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required with BC Certification in Parts and Warehousing or equivalent an asset
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a parts-related role, preferably in a heavy equipment environment with a strong knowledge of hydraulics
  • Inventory management control, purchasing and any rail-related experience would be a definite asset
  • Must possess a valid BC drivers’ license
  • Exceptional customer service and troubleshooting skills
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work well under pressure and maintain a strong attention to detail
  • Able to deal with people tactfully and professionally at all times
  • Ability to analyze and interpret the needs of customers and offer appropriate options, solutions, and resolutions
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Must be proficient with both manual and computerized inventory control
  • Weight handling of up to 60 lbs. required
