Sales Manager

Location: Mississauga, ON, Canada
Magnum Search Group has partnered with a market-leading dealer of construction and forestry equipment. We are looking for a Sales Manager to join their team in Mississauga, ON.

Job Summary:
Accountable for ensuring forecasted budget in whole goods for branch is surpassed. Strives to attain highest possible profit margins while still attaining market share for whole goods. And ensures all Territory Managers (TMs) are conducting themselves in the safest manner possible.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with Company Health and Safety Policies and Procedures as defined by the Human Resources Department and articulated in the Health and Safety Manual;
  • Plan, organize and direct the activities of the sales employees in your assigned AOR. This includes but is not limited to, the selection and training of teammates, appraising and rewarding good performance and ensuring that unsatisfactory performance is corrected and/or improved. As well, ensure, your direct reports receive regular performance feedback including a formal performance evaluations each year.
  • Work closely with the General Manager on the successful achievement of the Business Plan for the GTA market place;
  • Sustain and grow wholegood sales and gross profit (in all categories) within the GTA Marketplace;
  • Creates and develops action plan to ensure wholegoods budget for each fiscal year is delivered;
  • Review and analyze P&L statements monthly;
  • Drive PM contracts with all TMs;
  • Defines, sustain and grow market share on all products;
  • Attend and participates in Sales and Marketing meetings as well as Mississauga branch meetings as needed;
  • Control and reduce expenses for department;
  • Plan, coordinate, schedule and control Regional activities designed to achieve budgeted sales margins, income objectives and other sales goals;
  • Plan and develop strategy to channel factory discounts to enhance overall gross profit margins;
  • Review weekly RPO equipment and set strategies to close;
  • Approve all machine attachment orders;
  • Work with Mississauga Management team on inventory control;
  • Work with sales teammates to develop their territories, goals, and objectives for said territory;
  • Work with the General Manager and TMs on outside sales and rentals, prospecting, cold- calling and overall motivation of the Sales force;
  • Assist the General Manager in machine pricing, formal quotations, trade-in values and governmental bids;
  • Work with the General Manager and TMs on any customer disputes, working to resolve them in a win-win manner for both the Company and the customer;
  • Supervise ordering, shipping, rental and booking administration;
  • Approve Rental & Sales commission calculations;
  • Approve all rentals, demos, and loaners.

Education, Skills and/or Professional Experience:
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of retail sales experience in the heavy equipment and/or forestry sectors (or comparable industry);
  • Demonstrable leadership experiences, preferably overseeing a sales department;
  • A college or university degree in business administration (or comparable are of academic study);
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Exceptional proficiency with: Lotus Notes, PowerPoint, Excel and, if possible, PFW Opportunity Manager and ACT, and;
  • Clean driving abstract, valid driver’s license and proof of insurance
Work Environment:
Although much of time will be situated in an office/shop environment, a portion of time will be spent visiting branches and/or customers. Travel, by automobile and air, will be required.
