Production Supervisor

Location: Yankton, SD, United States

Magnum Search Group has partnered with a world leader in Material Handling. We are in search of a Production Supervisor to join their team in Yankton, SD.

This position will co-lead the Fabrication, Weld, and Paint team on the second shift.  Responsibility will include directing the team to drive improvement in Safety, Quality, Productivity, and budget compliance as well as employee development.   The successful candidate will have a proven track record in leading a multi-shift team with the above listed goals. 
  • Lead and develop scheduling systems for a second shift operation.
  • Develop staff and standardize skill/ training requirements for the efficient operation of the department.
  • Responsible for the safe operation of the shift.
  • Responsible for the delivery of components meeting the customer’s needs in delivery schedule, quantity and quality.
  • Train, educate and evaluate employees along with motivating and coaching.
  • Oversee and organize the workload of the second shift.
  • Supervisor of the departments on all aspects of the operation.
  • Complete all required documentation within established guidelines and appropriate timeframes.
  • Collaborate with 1st shift supervisors and all departments.
  • Ability to prioritize workload as new work comes into department.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA safety rules and regulations.
  • Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with team.
  • Manage consumables, internal/external PM’s, to control costs.
  • Identify tooling and equipment needs to match company goals for growth.
  • Delegate projects as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills – written, listening, and verbal.
  • Ability to work well with other departments to accomplish necessary goals within the company.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Team building knowledge
  • Advanced understanding of specific department operation.
  • Able to use tools and equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • AA or BS Degree a plus.
  • Prefer 1-2 years of proven leadership in a Lead/Supervisor position and/or previous management experience.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Handles change well, as well as take new processes/procedures to the next level.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain calm in high pressure situations.
  • Verbal, written and PC skills are required.
  • Experience in the principals of lean manufacturing preferred.
  • Requires working in an office environment, will be seated in a posture position.
  • Will utilize a computer terminal for periods of time, and phone use using a handset or headset.
  • Required to visit other departments on a needed basis to resolve issues.
  • Required to work flexible hours as required for production operations.
